BIG Lambeth Health Debate - an introduction

#1 by BLHD ( Guest ) , Thu Aug 08, 2013 1:39 pm

Help us plan your NHS services for the next 5 years - join us over the summer months in the BIG Lambeth Health Debate!

If you have a view we'd like to hear from you.

The debate is about
- How to improve the health of Lambeth people
- How to improve the quality of health services
- How to reduce inequalities in health
- How to spend NHS money most wisely
- A sustainable way of planning and paying for health services in the next five years and into the future.

We’re talking about who lives in Lambeth, what the health needs are, how much we spend, and how we can best direct our efforts and our spending.

Demand for healthcare is rising, cash is not: so we need to make choices between priorities; we need to do things differently.
We don’t have all the answers; we need to do this together.

We need your ideas on:
Innovation: new ideas and new ways of working that will help us to improve health, provide high quality care and reduce inequalities without increasing spending
Productivity: making every pound we spend work harder to improve health, provide high quality care and reduce inequalities without increasing spending
Prevention: preventing ill health, intervening earlier when people become ill and supporting people to manage long-term health conditions
Integration: working together across different parts of the NHS and with social care to meet people’s complex healthcare needs

Looking forward to making a contribution.....but in the meantime am in the process of making a complaint through PALS about the continuity of care failure that exists in Kings today. I would like to see an improvement in the 'duty of care' policy that is currenly in use.

I would like our hospitals to see every complaint to be seen as an opportunity to improve.

Working with active patients who have good suggestions about how they could do things better, will improve the experience for the next patient, and will also make things better for staff themselves. It's this thinking that will bring about the culture change we all need.

Jenni, very best wishes and lets hope they are listening to what you can teach them.

Oh- and will be really interested to hear about your experience of PALS and the complaints system , so we can improve that too....
